Ex Machina (2015) is a postmodern Gothic sci-fi movie by Alex Garland, implicitly illustrating the workings of humanization, dehumanization, and marginalization through its android character Ava. Ava’s interaction with people reveals humanity’s biased perspectives problems. She enables audience to see that inorganic anthropomorphic bodies mimicking human behaviors cognitive skills converge on humans become strangely humanized. Yet creating uncanny sensations in humans, these new group “others” who belong outside boundaries humanness so much they exist threshold monstrosity. Furthermore, due their appearance, cannot avoid hierarchies race gender. However, once perceived as learn use methods survive including wicked ones. thus demonstrates process dehumanization not only creates injustices dehumanized groups but results those apply it Others, for “less than human” inhumane acts.
